Hendersonville, TN

Homes For Sale

With more than 25 miles of shoreline on the Old Hickory Lake, there's no shortage of beautiful waterfront property in Hendersonville. In addition to the bounty of lakefront lots, Hendersonville also offers townhomes, condos, large acreage estates, and a variety of subdivisions.

Typical Hendersonville homes tend to feature broad, red-brick facades, generously covered with sash windows, and topped with low-gabled roofs.

As you climb up in price, stately homes in the federal-revival style bring an air of tradition to the suburban landscape.

With a budget extending into the millions, you can expect to see a range of new-traditional luxury homes sporting tall entry ways, multi-gabled roofs, and grand windows.

Large yard-front greens are a staple and fences are rare in Hendersonville, keeping up the small-town aesthetic characteristic of so many Tennessee communities. With this southern country feel, it's hard to believe that downtown Nashville is less than 30 minutes away.

Hendersonville also boasts some nationally recognized schools, like Merrol Hyde Magnet School and Indian Lake Elementary that were both awarded Blue Ribbon status.

Hendersonville boasts amazing livability, providing a nice escape from downtown without skimping on top-rated amenities.

Take one look around this central-Tennessee town, and you'll understand why Hendersonville often ranks as the number-one best place to live in Sumner County.

Hendersonville

A Slice of Tennessee History

Hendersonville also has its own generous slice of Tennessee history. Like General Daniel Smith, a frontier surveyor who settled in the area in 1784. General Smith produced the first maps of Tennessee and even gave the state its name. General Smith's home, the historic Rock Castle, was built from hand-hewn limestone and is still standing today.

Another one of Hendersonville's notable historic attractions is the 19th-century Monthaven plantation house. On the National Register of Historic Places, Monthaven was once used as a Civil-War hospital. Throw in a few minor battles, and the bloody history of Monthaven probably accounts for the rumours of ghosts which are supposed to haunt the building to this day.

In 1954, the construction of the Old Hickory Dam spurred on new growth in Hendersonville, as 22,500 acres of new lake attracted recreation-seekers from far and wide. By the late 20th century, Hendersonville had grown to become the most populous city in Sumner County.

Entertainment Galore

Beyond its natural spaces and opportunities for outdoor fun, Hendersonville also has a thriving arts and culture scene. For example, the aforementioned Rock Castle hosts a variety of events, including Easter egg hunts, shows and children's camps.

Monthaven house, now used by the Hendersonville Arts Council, hosts a number of public and private events each year. These include arts and crafts workshops, exhibitions, and tasting events. You could also take one of their daily tours, or attend performances there in the summer.
